Mozart Requiem
“Come and Sing” workshops for choirs
at Schloss Stuppach near Vienna
where Mozart Requiem was commissioned.
—x—
Stuppach Castle, 80km from Vienna, is the birthplace of one of the most celebrated musical masterpieces of all time, the Mozart Requiem.
The Requiem was commissioned from Mozart in 1791 by the owner of the Castle, Imperial Count Franz Anton von Walsegg, to honour his eternal love for his wife Anna after her tragic early death on Valentine’s Day at only 21.
The original manuscript was kept at the Castle for many years before it was moved to the Austrian National Library.
(We shall see it as part of our trip to Vienna and Stuppach from 21 to 24 October 2025).
Insured for 7.3 million Euros for an exhibition in 2001, this is one of the most valuable musical manuscripts on earth.
Today, the current owners of Stuppach Castle, Rita and Reinhard Zellinger, open its doors for the first time to visiting choirs from all over the world to come and sing the Mozart Requiem at the place where it was commissioned.
Without Schloss Stuppach, there would be no Requiem.

If this situation does occur, we regret we will be unable to make any refunds, pay you compensation or meet any costs or expenses you incur as a result. It is important that you have these eventualities covered in your own insurance policy.
